The Peace That Bypasses Our Understanding

Jesus gives us the peace that passes understanding.

You may not understand. In fact, you probably won’t a lot of times in life.

But you will always have access to peace.

You’ve got to choose it. It’s fruit on a tree like the garden of Eden. It’s there.

Many will not allow themselves what they consider to be the luxury of peace unless they understand.

There are times in life where you simply will not understand. Tragedy. Hardship. Betrayal. Death. Disease. Poverty. There is no end to what we do not understand.

If we are going to have peace in life, we need to accept that we simply will not understand most things. By insisting on understanding we create a barrier to the peace we were made to walk in.

But one of the fruits of the Spirit is peace. Peace that passes understanding. It bypasses understanding. You can have it without having to understanding. Many times, you need to reach pass understanding to lay hold of peace.

“God, I don’t get it. But thank you for peace.”

Trust.

When we choose to trust especially when we don’t understand, it’s like reaching past all the reasons we should be worried, anxious, angry and afraid and we fall into this holy bush thing…. The Spirit and there are all types of fruit in that thing.

(Insert Homer Simpson fading back into the bush gif)

When life inevitably gets gnarly, it’s time to lean into The Tree Of Life and munch you some peace fruit, some joy fruit, some love fruit. If you’ve ever driven a car on a road in Central Florida you’ll benefit from munching on some self-control fruit.

He promised hardship. He promised His presence. He promised adversity. He lives inside us and that resident spirit inside of us bears the fruit we need. We have it. We need to choose it in order to enjoy it’s benefits. A taco in your fridge and a taco in your hand are two different thing Brobiwan.

When life gets hard, go get you a patience burrito and munch that thing. Get you some joy. Get you some righteousness and crush that thing into your face. Then you’ll have what you need to successfully enjoy God, enjoy life, enjoy the goodness of God in every season of life.
